A new poll done by suposedly Democratic firm PPP based in North Carolina, shows Obama falling to an approval rating of just 50% and a disapproval of 43%. He has fallen below 40% with white voters and manages to lead Republicans in 2012 trial heats, but not with more than 51% of the vote and that is against Sarah Palin. It also shows that Democratic approval of Obama is down to 84%, likely because of the delay on healthcare. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/...
What is even scarier than this is that a Rasmussen poll has Mitt Romney and Obama tied in the 2012 race at this early point. This is before the economy gets inevitably worse and Democrats grow more and more disenchanted with Obama if healthcare fails to pass. http://www.rasmussenreports.com/...
Healthcare reform has to be passed NOW. No more waiting, no more delays. This has to get done before Obama's approval rating falls into the 40's, which it will, because the economy is going to keep getting worse. If healthcare doesnt pass, Democrats are almost certain to lose a very large number of seats in 2010 due to low Democratic turnout and high Republican turnout. Reform cannot wait. It is a political neccessity at this point.
All of the blue dogs blocking reform need to see what happens when these promises are broken. They seem to think that they can block reform and then run against Obama in 2010 and get conservative votes in their districts. From watching what happened in 1994, it doesnt work. These blue dogs will be the first ones to go because these conservative voters will vote for the real Republican every time. The biggest danger to these blue dogs is liberals not showing up at the polls.
The message is simple: Pass strong reform and then a rising tide will lift all boats.
